Frequently Asked Questions About Medical Weight Loss
Is Medical Weight Loss right for me?
If you are looking to reap the health benefits of losing weight to look and feel your best, Beale Medical Weight Loss program is designed to lead you to your healthy lifestyle goals. Scientific research shows that many obesity-related conditions (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, insulin resistance, obstructive sleep apnea) improve with a modest weight loss of 5 to 7 percent. Medical weight loss is an intensive lifestyle program with a focus on nutrition, behavior and exercise modification.
How much weight can I expect to lose?
Women can expect to lose 11 to 13 pounds per month, Men about 15 pounds per month. Total weight-loss results are dependent upon length of time on the weight loss program and adherence to eating plan and diet recommendations. Beale Medical Weight Loss works with you to choose a program that’s most suited to your goals.
What support will I have during the weight loss process?
Your weekly weight loss program includes your eating plan, oral medications for hunger, vitamin B12 injection and one-on-one counseling. Therefore, you will receive the education and support for your transition to a sustainable healthy lifestyle. You will also have 24 hour support access via phone, text and email for whenever you have questions or need suggestions.
Losing the weight is just the start. Once you reach your goal, Beale Medical Weight Loss teaches and continues to offer support on how to maintain your weight loss. To ensure long term success, we recommend follow-up maintenance visits at least quarterly.
What is the cost of the Medical Weight Loss program?
The first visit is your physical exam – blood work, blood pressure, urinalysis, height, weight, body measurements, and medical and diet history. The fee is $220.
The physicians at Beale Medical Weight Loss will then determine the safe weight loss strategy based on your lab tests, history, medications, and current health. These results are available early the next day.
Your weekly visits include your personalized eating plan (regular grocery store food), vitamin B12 injection, oral medications to help control your eating, and one-on-one counseling. The fee is $40 per week.
Is Medical Weight Loss covered by insurance?
Some insurance companies provide coverage for your physical exam and weekly weight loss program. You may use your Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
